license plate. No other county in the state of Missouri allows its residents to honor the memory of those who
sacrificed and suffered during the Civil War. Cass County was especially devastated during the war due to the
effects of Order #11. All residents who could not prove loyalty had to leave their homes, crops, barns and fields
which were then burned, giving the four western Missouri counties of Jackson, Cass, Bates and Vernon the
name of “The Burnt District.”

In 2011, Representative Rick Brattin introduced legislation to make these commemorative license plates
available after the following stipulations have been achieved:

1. 200 Missouri citizens make application for a plate

2. $5,000 is raised to cover production and design fees

The plate fee is $15 plus $25 for personalized wording for a total of $40. The $25 goes to Cass County of which
80% will help fund public safety and 20% county parks and recreation.

Carol won the education award and Debbie won the preservation award. New board members are Allen Edmonds and Scott Friedrich.

The first winner of the 52 guns in 52 weeks is Dennis Baker from Princeton, Kansas. He won a Beretta Extreme Camo.

The next drawing will be Tuesday afternoon at Golden Classic Jewerly. All tickets purchased before 3:30 on Tuesday will be in that drawing. The gun to be given that day is a Weatherby Vangard .243. Drawings will be held every Tuesday for the next 51 weeks. Tickets will be sold until they are gone. The sooner you buy, the greater your odds.
